Today was the first ever Reading Cafe event in school and what a success it was! Mrs Watkins organised the event for Foundation Phase parents, grandparents or other carers and family members to come to school to read and share stories with their children in a relaxed atmosphere, whilst having a cup of tea or coffee and a biscuit.
The event was very well attended and proved to be so popular that we will surely do this again and extend it to the KS2 children in future.
Comments from our visitors afterwards included:
'Lovely idea-so nice to see the children enjoying their reading. well organised - a lovely school.'
'A fantastic morning, was lovely listening to my little boy read in such a relaxed and fun environment.'
'Lovely to spend time with my daughter in school, she was really excited to have me in to see her and hear her read.'
'What a great morning. We are keen readers anyway but I'm always thrilled to have another opportunity to listen to my child read. Well done for promoting this event.'
'A special occasion and tea, coffee and biscuits also helped!'
Thank you to everyone who attended and look out for news of future Reading Cafe events.
