Welcome to Reception
Croeso i Ddosbarth Derbyn
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
We had great fun at Northop Hall beach! There was an ice cream cafe, boat rides, donkey rides, sunbathing, sand castles, beach ball games we paddled in the sea. In the afternoon we all had an ice lolly and played beach games with Steve and Joe.
Our teddy bears came to school today for a Teddy Bears picnic. We explored the forest with our bears and then had a picnic on the grass. The bears were very well behaved and polite and they had great fun in Nursery and Reception!
We have been busy planting Marigolds and Petunias and we are watering them every day. We also painted our own plant pots. They look so colourful outside our classroom. 🌸🌼🌺🌻🪴
Sports Day
We had fun at our Jubilee themed sports day. We wore our team colours and took part in all of our races. There was a running race, a crown race, a horse race and a visiting the Queen race! Everyone got a sticker for taking part.
We had a visit from Marie Darwin the author of The Sparkly Crown. She read her book to us and we had some props from the story.
This week in the forest we used tools! Some of us used the drill to make holes in conkers so we could make caterpillars.
Happy Easter
The Easter bunny sent us a letter to tell us about an Easter egg hunt outside. We were so excited and we found eggs with chocolate chicks inside! Then when we went back to class the Easter hen had been in and filled our baskets with eggs! 🐣🐰🐔🥚🍫
Our village walk.
Today we went on a long walk around the village to look at the different houses and homes. We spotted lots of different types of houses including bungalows, terraced houses, semi-detached houses and detached houses. We even saw a caravan.
We were super safe walking with our partner and we wore yellow hi-vis jackets so the cars could see us.
Fun in the Forest
We had fun in the forest acting out the story of the Three Little Pigs 🐷🐷🐷 and we built a house of sticks.
Superheroes for Comic Relief
Celebrating World Book Day
Today we celebrated World Book Day by dressing up as characters from our favourite books. In the afternoon we shared a book with a Nursery friend.
Getting muddy in forest school!
We had been practising ladder letters in our handwriting. In PE we went on the ladders on the large equipment in the hall.
Our magic carpet rides!
We put our magic carpets in front of a green screen and the teachers used some computer magic to make our pictures.
I wonder where we are going?
Celebrating Chinese New Year
We celebrated the Year of the Tiger in Reception with lots of different activities including making lanterns and cards, using chopsticks and retelling the story of the animals race.
We watched some dragon and lion dances and had a go at making our own.
You Choose
On Tuesday we had our topic launch day based on the book ‘You Choose’. The hall was filled with all different things to play with and we chose where to go. We flew on magical carpets, became different characters and played and shared with our friends.
💕 Diwrnod Santes Dwynwen 💕
We celebrated Saint Dwynwen’s Day on Tuesday and Mrs Griffith told us the story of Saint Dwynwen. We made salt dough hearts and cards.
In the story an angel turns Maelon into a block of ice. We had some blocks of ice and we had to try to release Maelon. Our ideas were to put him in the sun, put him on a radiator, smash him out and use hot water.

Wow - we had some surprise gifts under our tree this morning. We think they must be from Santa!

What another busy week of fireworks, poppies and circles and Pudsey Bear✨ 🌺 🟣 ⭕️ 🧸
Week 3 This week we had a new aeroplane and control tower to play with. We worked together to build an airport and a runway. Some children built an aeroplane outside and took turns to be the pilots. We have been using the iPads, making stars and being busy in all of the areas.
Don’t we look super on our first day in Reception!
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
