Bienvenue a nos amis francais!
It was wonderful to welcome our French friends to Northop Hall School on Friday. After many virtual meetings and written communication, it was so exciting to finally meet them in real life! The Rhos Male voice choir attended our event, and gave a musical Welsh welcome to our guests. An amazing time had by all. We even appeared on BBC Wales and S4C!!!
What a lovely St David's Day Celebration, da iawn pawb. Thank you to all the pupils and staff for their hard work. It was wonderful to hear poetry, songs and enjoy the Dawnsio Gwerin (Welsh Folk Dance). Thank you to the parents/carers/relatives of pupils in Year 2 and 4 who came along to support. Dydd Gwyl Dewi Sant Hapus. Happy St David's Day.
On Tuesday 19th December Alison and Yvonne visited our school, to present us with a certificate for achieving the Whole School Nurture Approach to Learning. We are the first school in the whole of Wales to achieve this prestigious award. One of our pupils explained to our visitors. "The teachers here are really good at understanding that children all learn in different ways and at a different pace. They kind of know that we won't all get it at the same time and that we all develop at different times." Another pupil said "This is a great school to be a pupil, because we all care for each other and support each other, it’s also really good to learn here, because the teachers support you to be resilient and to not be afraid of making mistakes”. We are so proud of our whole school community for embedding the principles of nurture and for gaining this award.
Our Year 6 pupils showed great perseverance and maturity on Friday, when they took on a range of roles throughout the school as part of National Take-Over Day. It is such a great opportunity for them to experience the world of work and fully supports the principles of the new curriculum for Wales. In particular, it support the statement "Enterprising, creative contributors, ready to play a full part in life and work". Children in Need also took place on Friday and as a school we raised £162.00. Thank you to everyone for your donations and support.
Some great team work and skills at the netball & football festival held at Bryn Coch School today. In the football we made it to the semi final but unfortunately got knocked out by Sychdyn who went on to win the competition. In the netball we won two, lost two and drew one. The netball and football squads played brilliantly and had incredibly close games. All the children worked so well together and were a real credit representing the school. Well done everyone.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
