Forest School 14/04/21
Summer Term is Here!
We have had such a fun first day back after the Easter break today in the outdoors! We have started our new topic based around health and well-being with a decathlon of athletic activities for the children to try out and revisit throughout the rest of the term, we are aiming to build lots of key skills, resilience, motivation and work on improving just like Olympic athletes do!
Back To School!
We have had a wonderful first day all back together! The children have really enjoyed being with their friends again and adapting to life back in the classroom.
Here are some pictures of our fun first day back 😁
Special, Surprise Letter to Year 6 14/12/20
Today, Year 6 received a lovely letter in the post to thank us for our tributes to local WW2 soldiers, which we created for Remembrance this year.
Thank you to Ann and Joan, we really appreciated your thoughtful letter and it was an honour to learn about Stanley.
Christmas Maths!
This week we have finished off our long multiplication and division unit by creating our own challenge cards containing Christmas themed maths problems!
We then swapped our cards and worked out each other’s word problems! A great consolidation of written methods learnt, but fun too 😊
A Visit From A Policeman
Today we had a visit from PC Lee Woodworth. He came to talk to us about harmful substances, a very important lesson.
Remembrance 2020 Y6
Here is the assembly Powerpoint which we shared with each class for Remembrance this year. The children have worked really hard during the build up to 11th November. They showed real maturity and respect for the fallen, for this I am very proud of them all.
Remembrance
Year 6 have worked so hard to produce their poems and tributes to fallen soldiers. We hope that you enjoy looking at and listening to our recitals.
Remembrance Poetry
Crafting our group Remembrance poems ready for 11th November!
Remembrance 2020
Year 6 are having to commemorate remembrance slightly different this year. We are dedicating the next week or so to remembrance and we will be learning about the fallen soldiers who were local to Northop Hall. Today we visited the war memorial in the village, we gathered important information, sketched the memorial and drew a map of the location.
Final Step!
When we finish the writing process, we peer assess our friends work 😁
This helps us all to appreciate others work and to improve next time!
Endangered Animals Information Texts
Year six have been working very hard to draft, check, improve and final draft their information texts over the last couple of weeks. Da iawn pawb!
Science: Investigating Insulators
We have been investigating why some people around the world use animal products to survive, such as animal fur to keep warm. We planned and carried out an investigation to find out which would be the best insulator for the human body out of a selection of different materials.
Place Value is Fun!!
We are starting off the term with place value, working with numbers up to 1million!
Year 6 are enjoying their competitive place value card game 😎
Group 1 Return!
Our first group of year 6 have had a great first day back catching up with each other within our pod.
Looking forward to welcoming back group 2!
