The Creepy Crawly Show
What a wonderful morning we have had!
Some very special visitors came to our school today 🐛 🕷 🦂 🐌 🦔 🦎
All the children were very brave when meeting, stroking and even holding some of the animals!
We learnt all about these amazing creatures, including where they live and what the eat. A big thank you to Dave from the Creepy Crawly Show for a lovely morning ⭐️
Forest school - in the forest today we read Maya’s Walk and then looked for tiny secrets such as a hole in a leaf, minibeasts or baby plants sprouting. Some of us worked together to build a den.
Celebrating the Coronation of King Charles III
We had a visit from Lenny the Letter and Royal Mail who came to collect our letters for King Charles.
Our first forest school session.
We practised getting into our outdoor kits and explored the forest area.
Eid Mubarak
We have been learning all about Ramadan and why Muslims celebrate Eid. We have read some books about Eid, made our own Eid cards and we have been able to try on some lovely Eid clothing too! We have also built Mosques out of wooden blocks/Duplo and even designed our own henna hand patterns on the iPads.

Our Mother’s Day Cafè
A big thank you to all of the Reception children’s Mums, Nans, and Aunties, that came today to enjoy our Mother’s Day cafè. We had a wonderful morning playing games, colouring in, and enjoying our delicious cupcakes together 💜 💐 We hope you all have a lovely day on Mothering Sunday.
Mother’s Day Baking
The children have worked hard today, following a recipe and weighing out all of the ingredients for some yummy cupcakes, ready for our Mother’s Day Cafè on Thursday. They look and smell delicious! We hope you all enjoy them.
WORLD BOOK DAY
We celebrated world book day by dressing up as characters from our favourite book or as crayons from the book The Day The Crayons Quit by Oliver Jeffers. In the morning we had a read-around where we went to different classrooms to listen to a story read by a different adult. In the afternoon we had a special assembly and we shared a book with a Nursery partner.
Dydd Gŵyl Dewi Sant
We celebrated St David’s Day today as everyone came dressed in traditional outfits or in the colours of Wales. When we came in in the morning we all read a Welsh book. Then we made paper chains in the colours of the Welsh flag to decorate the classroom, made artwork using red white and green lines and we played Welsh games on big board.
At the end of the day we shared some Welsh songs with our families. Some videos of our songs are below.
This morning we walked to the chapel in the village for an assembly with Reverend Jonathan. We sung ‘this little light of mine’ and ‘one more step along the world I go’. Jonathan told us a story and he said some prayers. Everyone was so sensible walking down to the chapel. We took it in turns to wear the high-viz jackets and stayed on the pavements.
🏴 We celebrated Dydd Miswig Cymraeg - Welsh language music day. We listened to some songs in Welsh and joined in with ‘Pen, ysgwyddau, coesau, traed!’ 🏴

Northop Hall Pizza Parlour is now open for business. All our ‘staff’ have been trained and are ready to take your orders.
As part of our pizza parlour training we went to the school kitchen to watch our cook Mrs Roberts make the calzone pizzas for lunch. We even tried some pizza with our snack. 🍕🍕🍕🍕
We went on a circle hunt around the school and found so many circles!
We made BIG pictures using circles in the style of the artist Kandinsky. 🟢🟡🟠🔵🟣⚫️🟤🔴

W/c 24th October - Pumpkins 🎃 leaves 🍂🍁and Melyn 💛🟡🟨
Celebrating Diwali - the Hindu festival of light
We learnt a Diwali song from CBeebies, we watched a programme about a girl celebrating Diwali, we made Rangoli patterns and we made diva lamps using dough. We also dressed up in special clothes.
We made rainbow 🌈 jelly
We read the book Red Rockets and Rainbow Jelly and made our own rainbow jelly. We had strawberry, orange, lime, raspberry and black currant jelly. Everyone had a turn in stirring the jelly which we kept in the fridge. Lots of the colours mixed together but it was a rainbow inside! 🌈. We tasted the jelly and it was delicious.
W/c. 17th October: This week we have made our own Brown Bear stories, painted Autumn trees and have been matching socks in Numeracy.
We went on an Autumn walk and collected acorns, helicopters and Autumn leaves. We all planted an acorn which we hope will grow into an Oak tree.
We celebrated ‘Diwrnod Shwmae’ by using the Welsh greeting Shwmae!
We made porridge today!
We have been reading the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Today we followed a recipe and made porridge just like the bears eat. It wasn’t too hot or too cold. It was just right.
w/c 3rd October
This week we have been exploring shadows, sorting sets of 1/2/3, learning our Harvest song and looking for Coch objects in Welsh. I’m so proud of how confidently the children performed our harvest song in front of the whole school during our Harvest assembly.
