Liverpool Maritime Museum - Trip - 13/3/2018
Year 2 had a fantastic trip to Liverpool this week. We learnt even more about the Titanic! Following our tour around the museum, we took part in a storytelling experience - Polar the Titanic Bear. Some of us even got to dress up! Take a look at the pictures to see all the fun we had. If you get an opportunity to take the children to Liverpool over the Easter Holidays, do pop in and have a look at the wonderful exhibitions there. I'm sure that the children will be able to give you a guided tour and teach you some fascinating facts all about their Titanic topic!

We had a fantastic time on our trip to Techniquest. We enjoyed lots of practical problem-solving activities and helped the Elf to search for Santa using science clues. We think science is amazing!
27/10/2017 PLAS DERW TRUST - JUNIOR NATURE RANGERS
What a fantastic morning Year 2 had with Pippa and Carolyn from Plas Derw Trust! The children have all been Junior Nature Rangers today, learning about the biodiversity of our school environment. Our scavenger hunt revealed many different clues to the wide range of nature that surrounds us. We learnt how important it is to have a variety of species of plants and animals around us, and how different habitats sustain living things. As you will see from the photos, not only did we learn lots, we had great fun too. Even our friendly Forest School robin stopped by to listen! We are really looking forward to Pippa and Carolyn returning to us in January.

Dear Parents,
Following on from our meetings this week, I have attached some advice on how you could support your child's learning at home during this term. If you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to ask.
Kind regards,

PUMPKIN SOUP SALE - THANK YOU!
A big thank you to everyone who came to support our pumpkin soup sale after school on Tuesday. The children certainly enjoyed making the soup and we hope it was the best you ever tasted! We raised £19 which we will gratefully put towards some new maths games for our classroom. Many of you have asked for the recipe which I have attached below. So now you know what to do with leftover pumpkins from Halloween. Enjoy!
Dear Parents / Carers,
Thank you for your support in attending our Year 2 reading meeting after school. It was great to see so many of you there. I hope you found it useful and would welcome regular feedback regarding your child's reading progress. I have attached the slides from my presentation for some guidance or future reference. If you were unable to attend or have any questions, please do pop in and ask.
Kind regards,
Mrs Watkins
Dear Parents / Carers,
I would like to invite you to a Parent Information Meeting on Thursday 14th September 2017. I will be running two separate meetings to try to accommodate as many as possible. The first meeting will be straight from school at 3.10pm and the second, specifically for people who work later, will be at 6pm. During these meetings I will be able to give you specific advice about reading and maths and share ideas to help you to best support your child at home. If you do not have childcare, your child could bring a book or an electronic device to play with and sit quietly in our wet area. The meeting should last around 45 minutes.
Your attendance at this meeting would be greatly appreciated and your involvement can have a significant impact on your child's achievement.
I look forward to seeing you at either meeting on the 14th.
Kind regards,
Mrs Watkins
