At the Park
During and following our visit to the park, we learnt about forces. Some Year 2 children came to our class and explained some of the different forces. We learnt about pushes, pulls, gravity and friction. We also wrote a recount of our visit to the park.
In our class assemblies we discussed the importance of saying ‘Thank you.’ We made ‘Thank you’ cards for the three kind ladies who had given up their time to answer our questions. Minister Jonathan invited all of Foundation Phase to an assembly in the Chapel. The children enjoyed singing and listening to the organ!
We went back to the Presbyterian Church (Chapel) and were met by three ladies who were able to answer our ‘I wonder ...’ questions. The children were extremely polite and really enjoyed ‘finding-out’ about the Chapel. The ladies also treated the children to a drink and biscuit!
In our class assemblies we learnt about what worship is and where people worship. We arranged to visit the Presbyterian Church (Chapel). The children explored inside and asked lots and lots of questions! Back in school we organised our ‘I wonder ......’ questions.
During our second walk around our village, the children showed lots of interest in the Presbyterian Church (Chapel). They asked if they could go inside and find out more!
Following our walk around our village, we discussed all the things we had seen. We then thought about why our village didn’t have other things which we have seen in other places.
Year 1 Home Learning 18.1.2023
We are extremely proud of Year 1’s contributions to Remembrance Day. The class were thoroughly engaged in all of our discussions about the importance of this day and they asked lots of questions to help develop their understanding. They enjoyed producing poppies in a variety of ways and they learnt a poem which they recited at the War Memorial in the village.
Pumpkins!
Over the past couple of weeks, we have been ‘finding out’ about pumpkins. We have asked ‘I wonder ........?’ questions and we have had lots of fun researching the answers.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
