Today, Anya, a Chester Zoo Safari Ranger made her second visit to the children in KS2 again. The main subject today was 'habitats' and how we can protect, maintain and improve the environment for wildlife in different types of habitats, especially for our native wildlife.
The children learned about helping the environment by Reducing, Reusing and Recycling.
They also learned about native and non native species and those that have become 'invasive'.
The children asked and answered questions, problem solved and completed a range of challenges.
For Anya's next visit we will be taking part in some outdoor activities, more details about this will follow for the individual classes.
Pupils, parents and staff enjoyed a day of celebration in honour of the Queen's 90th Birthday on Friday. We were delighted that a very special visitor managed to find time to call in and say hello! Our visitor was very impressed with the entries into the competition "draw a portrait of the Queen" but managed to select three winning entries. Thank you to everyone who came along to support our after school celebration.
We have added a new section to the 'Parents' area of the website to show the school dinner menus.
Mrs Sian Williams, the school cook, follows the menus as closely as possible. Jacket potatoes, a different daily range of sandwiches and pasta pots are also available on many days, depending on the main menu options.
If your child has any specific diet requirements, please call in to speak to Mrs Sian Williams directly.
Every year in Wales pupils from Year 2-9 have National Tests in Literacy and Numeracy. These tests take place in the Summer Term and are used to assess progress and to help inform future planning for the children.
There is a Parents and Carers guide with further information about the way the scores are calculated and what they mean, published by the Welsh Government, to help explain these further. You will find this in the Parents section of the website in the National Tests section or follow the link below.
Please speak to your child's class teacher if you have any further questions about the process.
