As part of our on-going review of safety and safeguarding, we have decided that our system of locking and unlocking gates requires some modification.
The gate from the Pavilion car park will remain key coded.
The top gate, which brings you down the path from the top of the field, will be locked soon after 9.00am and unlocked soon after 3.05pm.
The side gate onto the FP playground will also be locked soon after 9.00am and unlocked soon after 3.05pm.
We hope you understand that this system has been put in place to improve the safety of your children, preventing anyone from wandering onto the premises during the school day and pupils wandering off!
We would also like to take this opportunity to remind you that when you bring your children to school in the morning, you should drop your children off at the door if they are in Foundation Phase and at the gate if they are in KS2. Parents in Early Years (Nursery and Reception) may continue to bring their children into the classroom, if they wish, but should remain in that area and leave by the same door.
Should you need to see a Teacher, Staff member or go to the Office, you should ask the adult at the door or the teacher on playground duty to get someone for you, whilst you wait for them. Alternatively come around to the front of the school to the Main Office to make an appointment, pass on a message or sign in as a Visitor.
At Breakfast Club, may we remind you that you should sign your child in at the door and only the children should come in to the Hall. Parents should not come into the Hall with their children as this is against our Safeguarding Policy.
As always, we appreciate your understanding and support with helping us maintain the safety of all the children in school.
Eight pupils from Year 4 took part in a tennis festival on Friday 20th April at Deeside Leisure Centre. The festival involved coaching and playing singles and doubles games. Everyone showed great concentration and team spirit and there were some amazing rallies. Huge congratulations to our team of four boys who won overall and will be through to the next round. Great result! There will be some free tennis sessions coming up at Mold Tennis Club and at Northop Hall tennis courts over the 12th and 13th May.
See sports section for further photographs of today's event.
As we continue to develop and improve our communication, administration and school safeguarding and security processes, we are pleased to announce the installation our new electronic signing-in system in our Main Office area.
This signing-in system will be used for all Staff and Visitors and also for pupils who arrive late to school and those leaving during the school day for appointments or illness.
We would like to stress how important it is for your children to be on time for school each day as learning begins as soon as they get to their classroom. Foundation Phase pupils can come into their classrooms from 8.45am and KS2 pupils are welcome to play, supervised by school staff, on the KS2 playground also from 8.45am. The bell is rung at 8.55am and the doors closed soon after.
Should you arrive late to school, after 8.55am, you are required to bring your children into school via the Main Office and then sign them in on the new system, which links directly to our school registration system.
We hope this new system will create a smoother and quicker experience for everyone in school.
We have been busy working on further improving our safeguarding and security in school in recent weeks.
All school Staff will now be wearing our new ID Badges around the school. These badges are easily identifiable as they are all blue with ‘Staff’ clearly printed on the lanyard. The purpose of these is for pupils (and visitors) to be able to identify members of the school staff quickly and easily. Our new ‘Visitor’ badges are coloured red and are also easily distinguishable by the pupils. We have spoken to the pupils about these badges which are part of our safeguarding protocols and that they should always speak to a school staff member if they see adults in school not wearing one or the other badge. We would like to thank Lyndsay Andrews of Excell Supply, based in Mold, for supporting us in the printing of these new badges.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
