On Tuesday 13th October 2015, Northop Hall hosted a D&T day for some Year 5 pupils from our local cluster of schools. Pupils from Hawarden Village, Ewloe Green, Penarlag and Sandycroft joined Northop Hall pupils to design and make a plastic pen holder for their desks.
The children worked with Arwel Williams from TechnoEd, a specialist technology project provider, to work through a design and make process using a range of skills and equipment, including hot wire strip heaters to shape the plastic.
Listening, thinking, accurate measuring and good cooperation skills lead to successful results, with each pupil completing their individual pen holder.
To complete their day the children had the opportunity to learn some coding and control technology with Pro Bot programmable cars.
The feedback from the pupils was extremely positive and a great day was had by all.
We held our Harvest Festival in the Church today. The children from each class performed brilliantly and we were very proud of them all. It was fantastic to see so many parents and carers there too.
We would like to thank you for all of your Harvest donations. Members of the School Council delivered them to elderly residents in the local community this afternoon with Miss Bowen and the kind help of some parents and grandparents.
Please have a look on the School Council page in the Children's section for some more photographs.
We held some Reading Workshops for Parents in Foundation Phase and KS2 last week. Thank you to those who attended and learned some useful tips and advice to support their children with their reading development.
There is now a Reading section on the Parents page which we will add to during the year.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
