On Friday 20th November 2015, Northop Hall CP School welcomed a whole new team of staff to run the school for the day. For National Takeover Day, the pupils of Year 5 and Year 6 were invited to apply for the posts of Head teacher, Class Teachers, Teaching Assistants and Midday Supervisors. Letters of application were written and appointments made.
The new staff worked hard during their planning and preparation time earlier in the week and arrived early on Friday morning, looking very professionally dressed for their posts.
They worked hard all day, delivering lessons including maths, literacy and art activities, practicing songs for the play, reading stories and spending their breaks in their 'Staffroom' marking and preparing the next lessons!
The Head teachers visited each class, sent emails, wrote letters and prepared their Assembly for the afternoon.
All of the Year 5/6 pupils rose to the challenges of their new jobs, learned many new skills and had some fun along the way. Well done to them all.
On Wednesday 11th November the pupils from Year 5 and Year 6 contributed to a Remembrance Service held at St Mary's Church in Northop Hall and also at the village memorial before and after the two minutes silence.
The children read the thoughtful and moving poetry they had written in small groups in the run up to this important day.
Please follow the link below to have a look at their poetry.
Last week all of the children in KS2 visited Spaceport as part of our topic 'Blast Off!'
We all had a fantastic time, learning about being an astronaut in the Space Dome film, finding out all about our Solar System and experiencing an exhilarating ride through space and time in the Space Simulator. We even had a chance to 'launch our own rockets' using compressed air. There was plenty to explore in the Light hands on exhibition and even more practical activities to try in the Forces area.
It was a busy and fun filled trip.
Please go to the Gallery in the Children's section to see more photos of the day.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
