Great Maths Makes Learning Visual
Thursday 18th January 3.30pm
Gareth Metcalfe is a Maths Consultant and highly skilled teacher of Maths, who is working with classes in Northop Hall this year.
Excitingly, he has offered to deliver a workshop for all parents and carers on developing visual learning in Maths for all ages of children, Nursery to Year 6.
This is a fantastic opportunity for you to find out about how you can support your children with Maths development.
We will be offering a childcare facility for your children and tea and coffee will be provided.
We are looking forward seeing as many of you as possible at this fantastic workshop that will help you in supporting your child's progress in Maths.
The School Council, along with Mrs Harrison, did a great job organising the Santa Dash held this afternoon for all of the children from Reception to Year 6. This event was held to raise funds towards the Pantomime performance which will be taking place after Christmas.
Thank you for your support with this event.
Despite the snowy weather doing its best to disrupt our Christmas Performances last week, both Foundation Phase and KS2 managed to complete their main performances in great style.
The acting, speaking and singing was fantastic and, as always, sets us up ready for the Christmas season ahead.
We would like to thank you for your understanding of the snow situation causing the Foundation Phase dress rehearsal being cancelled last Monday.
Well done to all of the children who took part and a huge 'Thank You' to all of the staff for their hard work it putting all of the performances together over the preceding weeks.
We are planning to be open tomorrow, Tuesday 12th December as the main pathways on the school site have been cleared and gritted as much as we are able to at this point. We suggest that you stay on the cleared paths only, either from the front of the school or from the Pavilion car park, and please keep your children with you on these paths. We also suggest not using the long path from the back of the school grounds. Please ensure footwear is appropriate to the conditions.
If the children have wellies, or equivalent snow footwear, with a change of dry indoor shoes to change into in school, warm coats, hats, gloves and even snow trousers or waterproof trousers, (ALL clearly named please) we may be able to take them out to play at break time.
Breakfast club will be open but may we suggest it is only used if absolutely necessary.
Although the main road through the village is relatively clear, Llys Ben, from the junction onwards, remains extremely icy. The Council hope to grit it but they are understandably prioritising major routes. The footpath has been gritted today however, from the top of Llys Ben as far as our field gate, so it may be worth considering walking to school if you live in the village, or parking further away from school and walking the last part of the route if you live further away.
Many thanks for your patience today.
As I’m sure you will have seen on the Flintshire School Closures website, we have taken the decision to close tomorrow, Monday 11th December, due to the ongoing adverse weather. This decision was made following conversations with local residents in Northop Hall, other schools in Flintshire and also following the NW Police/Met Office warnings of extremely low temperatures overnight,. The safety of children, staff and parents are at the forefront of decisions we make.
As we aim to be back in school on Tuesday, Christmas Play performances will go ahead as planned this week although without a Foundation Phase Dress Rehearsal (which was scheduled for Monday) We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
Thank you for your understanding of this and we hope that making the decision this evening will help you make childcare arrangements sooner, rather than announcing a closure in the morning.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
