Keep up to date with all the latest news in school and on the website.
Year 2 have been busy making some vegetable soup today. They did a super job, peeling, slicing and cooking the vegetables. Thank you to all the customers who purchased the delicious soup from our "Soup Kitchen" after school. We had very good feedback from our customers that the soup was tasty and we should do it gain! Our profit was £11.50 but we realised that the polystyrene cups were quite expensive! The profit made is going to go directly to Year 2 for use in their classroom. Well done Year 2 chefs!
Please remember school photographs are being taken tomorrow, Tuesday 27th September. The photographer has said she can be here ready to take family group photographs (with siblings who are non school age) from 8.00a.m. (rather than the original 8.30a.m.). Therefore please arrive at the entrance to hall from 8.00a.m until 8.45a.m if you would like younger non school age siblings to have their photographs taken with older brothers or sisters. Thank you
Another day is coming to an and end and what a day! The sun shone all day, the children's smiles were wide and a there were frequent shouts of 'Wow!', 'Amazing!', 'Aghhhh!' as they slid, climbed, paddled and zipped their way around the countryside.
The gorge walking activity was again a very popular one with rock slides, rock squeezes, pools to jump in and waterfalls to duck under. The wetter the children got the more they seemed to enjoy themselves.
Our evening activity is underway and the children are busy exploring the Nant BH grounds looking for clues and questions to win points for their team. They are using up some remaining energy and may be asleep a little earlier tonight than last!
We'd like to send a happy birthday picture and message from a big brother to his sister today.
Next Friday 23rd September is an informal stay and play event. The idea is for parents and children to socialise and to enjoy some outside free play whilst the days are still warm and light. Teas, coffees, biscuits and ice creams will be on sale all at 50p each. The newly formed school council will be helping to run the event and money raised will be put towards purchasing their new metal school council badges.
Last year some pupils brought their scooters along to the event and used the track which we set up for them. They are welcome to bring scooters again this year. Children in Nursery to Year 4 do need to be accompanied by a parent or a named adult but pupils in Year 5 & 6 who are mature and well behaved may attend without a supervisory adult.
We look forward to seeing you on Friday 23rd September
Please take a look at the fantastic photographs in the gallery section from Roald Dahl Day which took place on Tuesday. Thank you to all the children & staff for their great costumes and participation!
What an amazing day we have had here at Nant BH and still so much more to come. Soon after we arrived the first challenge came.....how to put a duvet cover on without getting lost inside and getting a fitted sheet to stay on a mattress on a bunk bed! We all overcame that one with a little help from our friends. Once kit issue and lunch was done with it was off out into the warm sunshine for activities.
Two groups headed up to the lake for canoeing and a few extras! There was swimming, toasting of marshmallows and playing and sliding by the river. A great ... and very wet...time was had by all.
Meanwhile the third group went up to the high ropes course to challenge themselves on the different obstacles. Learning about safety, they clipped and unclipped their ropes, balanced, wobbled and swung their way through the trees, with many overcoming some fears to succeed. Their final challenge was to 'zip' down the zipwire.
We've seen some great teamwork, helping and encouraging each other already since we've been here. Off on a night walk this evening to finish off a great day. With the weather looking good for tomorrow we'll be swapping around activities and also heading to the gorge for more fun in the water.
At Northop Hall we have a strong a tradition of the PTA working with the school, organising events and fundraising to support a range of activities, events and equipment purchases for the children. This year we are looking for new parents to join our PTA – three of our long standing PTA members have now left the committee as their children have moved on to secondary school. We therefore need new parents with new ideas to help and support the work the PTA do to fundraise and organise activities for our school.
Without the PTA we wouldn’t have been able to double the amount of laptops we have in school from this September nor buy our first set of 10 ipads for example. I’m sure you appreciate the work they do to support the children in school and we would like to see the PTA move from strength to strength.
We are now able to confirm a date for the next school disco.
It will take place on Wednesday 19th October.
Times will be 4.00 - 5.15pm for Foundation phase and 5.15 – 6.30pm for KS2
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
